Camerata

A salon gathering of aristocrats and literati. The Camerata, which gathered at the Bardi family home in Florence, Italy, around 1573-1582 and contributed to the birth of early opera based on ancient Greek drama, is particularly famous. Poet O. Rinuccini (1562-1621), musician V. Galilei (c. 1520-1591) (father of G. Galilei), Caccini, Peri, and others participated.
