Camerata
A salon gathering of aristocrats and literati. The Camerata, which gathered at the Bardi family home in Florence, Italy, around 1573-1582 and contributed to the birth of early opera based on ancient Greek drama, is particularly famous. Poet O. Rinuccini (1562-1621), musician V. Galilei (c. 1520-1591) (father of G. Galilei), Caccini, Peri, and others participated. The Italian word camerata means "comrades."

貴族や文人などのサロン集会のこと。1573年―1582年ころにイタリアのフィレンツェのバルディ家に集まり,古代ギリシア劇を規範に,初期オペラの誕生に寄与したカメラータが特に有名。詩人のO.リヌッチーニ〔1562-1621〕,音楽家のV.ガリレイ〔1520ころ-1591〕(G.ガリレイの父),カッチーニ,ペーリらが加わった。イタリア語camerataは〈仲間〉の意。
