A collection of haiku poems. Contains haiku poems by Yokoi Yayu from his youth to his later years. There are 4 volumes, 12 books (3 books each), consisting of the first, second, sequel, and collections. The first volume was published in 1787 (Tenmei 7), the second volume in 1788 (Tenmei 8), and the sequel and collections in 1823 (Bunsei 6). After Yayu's death, Ota Nanpo (Shokusanjin) was impressed by the interestingness of Yayu's writings and obtained a manuscript copy of "Quail Robe" from Yayu's friend Hotta Rokurin, which he published. This led to the continued publication of the series. Using everyday common things as the subject matter, the writings are written by a method of reconstructing a fictional world with a sense of elegance, and have a light and free-flowing flavor based on wit and technique, and have been praised since ancient times as the most refined and complete haiku. However, his elegance is different in spirit from that of Basho, and its main focus is on witty, sophisticated and humorous style.
