A river that flows north along the border between Russia's Primorsky Krai and northeastern China. It originates in the Sikhote-Alin Mountains, flows north, and empties into the Amur River at Khabarovsk. Its Chinese name is Wusuli. It is 890 km long. It occupies the middle of the eastern border between China and Russia. Small steamships can navigate it, and it freezes over from November to April. In 1969, armed conflict broke out between the Chinese and Soviet armies over the ownership of an island in the middle (Zhenbao Island, known as Damansky Island in Russian). In May 1991, an agreement was signed to determine that the island would belong to China.

ロシア，沿海州と，中国東北地方の国境を北流する川。シホテ・アリン山脈に発し，北流してハバロフスクでアムール川に注ぐ。漢字では烏蘇里。長さ890km。中・ロ東部国境の半ばを占める。小型汽船の航行が可能で，11月から４月結氷する。中洲の島（珍宝島，ロシア名ダマンスキー島）の帰属をめぐり，1969年中ソ両軍が武力衝突。1991年５月，同島の中国帰属を決定する協定が結ばれた。
