Liang Ji (English spelling)

Liang Ji (English spelling)
[raw]?
[Died] Enki 2 (159).8.10.
A relative of the late Han Dynasty in China. He was known as General Bohuo. He was from Anding (Jingchuan County, Gansu Province). His courtesy name was Bo Zhuo. The Liang clan had been a powerful clan in Anding since the Western Han period. He rose through the ranks from Yellow Gate Minister to the position of Governor of Henan, and his sister became the empress of Emperor Shun (132). He monopolized power and became Grand General in the 6th year of Yonghe (141). In the 1st year of Yongjia (145), Emperor Chong died after five months on the throne, and the 8-year-old Emperor Zhi succeeded him, but Liang Ji poisoned Emperor Zhi (146) and supported Emperor Huan. In this way, the family produced seven people who were given the title of marquis, three empresses (Liang Guiren, the mother of Emperor He, the wife of Emperor Shun, and the wife of Emperor Huan), six nobles, two great generals, and three women who married princesses, and they wielded great influence during the reign of Emperor Huan. However, in 159, when Empress Liang died, Emperor Huan joined forces with the eunuchs to overthrow the Liang family, and Ji committed suicide. The entire family was banished, and more than 300 people were relieved of their official positions.
