〘Noun〙 This refers to books published in Satsuma Province (Kagoshima Prefecture), which was the territory of the Shimazu clan, from the Muromachi period to the early modern period. It is said to have begun with the arrival of Keian Genju. Starting with "Shubun Yunryaku" and "Daigaku Shoku" published in Bunmei 13 (1481 ), and ending with "Huang Mu Gong Su Shu" and "Confucius Sacred Places" published in Keicho 20 ( 1616 ), there was a hiatus after that, with only a few publications seen at the end of the early modern period. 〘名〙 室町期から近世初期にかけて、島津氏の所領薩摩国(鹿児島県)で出版された書籍をいう。桂庵玄樹の来任をきっかけとするといわれる。文明一三年(一四八一)刊の「聚分韻略」「大学章句」にはじまり、慶長二〇年(一六一六)刊「黄睦公素書」「孔子聖蹟図」などに至り、以後中絶、近世末期に若干の刊行が見られる。薩摩本。
