Itsukijima

An island located at the southern tip of Hiroshima Prefecture, belonging to Kure City. It has an area of ​​0.7 square kilometers. Located at the southern end of the Geiyo Islands, it is isolated in the Isagi Sea and is the most remote island in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is about 6 kilometers from Ohama Port on Osakishimo Island. There is a passenger ferry service from Osakishimo Island to Isagi Island via Teshima. Field crops and mandarin oranges are cultivated to a small extent. The surrounding area is a good fishing ground, and is especially known for sea bream fishing. In the nearby waters, there is a sea surface where loons migrate (a nationally designated natural monument). At the training accommodation facility "Abinosato Itsuki," there is an "Abi Information Exhibition Room" that explains the ecology of loons and loon fishing (currently closed). Population 22 (2009).

広島県南端、呉(くれ)市に属す島。面積0.7平方キロメートル。芸予(げいよ)諸島の南端にあり、斎灘(なだ)の中に孤立し、広島県ではもっとも離島性が高い。大崎下(おおさきしも)島の大浜港から約6キロメートル。大崎下島から豊島を経て斎島へと至る旅客船便がある。畑作物やミカン栽培がわずかに行われる。周囲は好漁場で、とくにタイ漁業で知られる。付近の海域にアビ渡来群游(ぐんゆう)海面（国指定天然記念物）がある。研修宿泊施設「あびの里いつき」に、アビの生態とアビ漁を解説した「あび資料展示室」がある（休館中）。人口22（2009）。
