Bozorg 'Alavī

Iranian writer. After studying in Germany (1922), he joined an Iranian Marxist group and was imprisoned for four years until the Allied occupation of Iran (1941). After his release, he participated in the formation of the Zudeh Party. After Mossadegh's downfall, he moved to East Germany and continued his academic activities, including literary studies, at Humboldt University. He is a typical intellectual writer who was exiled due to political pressure from the Pahlavi monarchy. In addition to his debut work, The Suitcase (1934), Prison Notebooks (1941), and Her Eyes (1952), he also wrote A History of Persian Literature.

イランの作家。ドイツ留学(1922)を経て，イランのマルクス主義者のグループに加わり，連合軍のイラン占領(1941)まで4年間投獄される。釈放後ツーデ党結成に参画。モサッデク失脚後，東ドイツに移住，フンボルト大学で文学をはじめ学術的活動を続ける。パフラビー王制の政治的圧力によって追放された典型的な知識人作家である。処女作《スーツケース》(1934)，《獄中ノート》(1941)，《彼女の目》(1952)などの作品のほかに《ペルシア文学史》も著している。
