《Amphitheater》 - Amphitheater

...It refers to a work that does not fit the traditional definition of tragedy or comedy because it contains a mixture of tragic and comic elements. The first person to use this term was the ancient Roman playwright Plautus, who wrote in lines 50 to 63 of his work Amphitheatre that a mixture of crude comedy and sublime tragedy is created because gods and kings, who have traditionally been the protagonists of tragedy since ancient Greek drama, and slaves, who have traditionally been the protagonists of comic plays, appear together. In this case, the starting point is the definition that distinguishes tragedy and comedy based on the status of the protagonist, but Renaissance scholars such as J.J. Scaliger defined tragedy as a tragedy that ends happily.
