Hoist - Hoist (English spelling)

Hoist - Hoist (English spelling)

A small machine for lifting loads. There are electric hoists, pneumatic hoists, and telhars. An electric hoist is a small winch that cleverly combines a small electric motor, a hoisting drum with a planetary gear reduction device, an electromagnetic brake to hold the load, and a load brake to adjust the speed when lowering the load, all in a small space. It is used to lift and transport loads by attaching it to the end of a jib (a bar that extends diagonally or horizontally from a fulcrum) or running on the lower flange of an I-beam. There are types that operate the motor by operating a pull rope on the floor, those that are operated by a push button, and those that are remotely controlled. It can suspend loads of about 0.3 to 5 tons, with a hoisting speed of 5 to 10 meters per minute and a running speed of about 20 to 40 meters per minute. There are many types of hoists depending on the place of use and the structure of the machine. There are low-head types used in places with low ceilings, double-rail types that run on two rails, and teruha types that are used when the distance is long and there are obstacles along the way and it is not possible to operate from the floor, and they have a driver's cab. Air hoists are used in places where there is a risk of gas explosions, such as coal mines, and use compressed air to rotate the reel and wind up the rope.
