Bouvardia
A genus of the Rubiaceae family with about 30 species distributed in North and Central America, several of which and hybrids are cultivated in greenhouses or frames for cut flowers. Mitsubakanchouji grows to a height of 50-180cm, with 3-4 leaves in whorls at the bottom and opposite leaves at the top. It produces cymes at the top of the stem, with slender scarlet tubular flowers that end in a cross shape of four. Nagabanakanchouji has large, white, fragrant flowers. Hybrids also have pink and salmon-colored flowers.

北米,中米に約30種分布するアカネ科の一属で,その中の数種と交雑品種が切花用に温室やフレームで栽培される。ミツバカンチョウジは50〜180cmの高さになり,葉は下部では3〜4枚輪生し,上部では対生。茎頂に集散花序をつけ,先端が十字形に4裂した緋紅(ひこう)色の細長い管状花をつける。ナガバナカンチョウジは花が大きくて白色,芳香がある。交雑品種には桃色や鮭肉色の花色もある。
