Common name for pentaerythritol tetranitrate C( CH2ONO2 ) 4 . White crystals obtained by treating pentaerythritol C( CH2OH ) 4 with concentrated nitric acid . Melting point 140.8℃. When heated, it explodes at 185-190℃.
