A volcano belonging to the Klyuchev Volcanoes in the eastern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula. In a major eruption in 1956, the summit was blown off, raising the mountain's elevation from 3,085 m to 2,800 m. It is an andesitic volcano, and erupted for the first time in recorded history on October 22, 1955. The eruption continued for a long period of time, and on March 30, 1956, a major eruption occurred, blowing off the summit, forming a horseshoe shape, and a lava dome emerged from the new crater. It is one of the largest volcanic eruptions of the 20th century, and the total weight of the ejected material is estimated to be 6.7 × 10 ⁹ t.

カムチャツカ半島東部のクリュチェフ火山群に属する火山。1956年の大噴火で山頂部が吹き飛ばされ，標高3085mであったものが2800mの高さとなった。安山岩質火山であり，1955年10月22日に有史以来初めて噴火活動に入った。噴火は長期間続き，56年3月30日に大噴火が起こり，山頂部が吹き飛ばされて馬蹄形になり，その新しい火口から溶岩円頂丘が出現した。20世紀の火山噴火のなかでも最大級の噴火の一つであり，放出された噴出物の総重量は6.7×10⁹tと推定されている。
