Kaozorina - Kaozorina

Japanese: 顔剃菜 - かおぞりな
Kaozorina - Kaozorina

...A biennial plant of the Asteraceae family commonly found on roadsides in the mountains and fields from Sakhalin to Kyushu, characterized by its rough leaves and stems and bright yellow flower heads (illustration). The rough texture is due to the brown bristles that grow on it, and it is said that the name Kozorina comes from Kaozorina or Kamishorina (razor greens). It overwinters in a rosette, and its basal leaves are spatula-shaped and similar to those of a dandelion. When cut, it also exudes a white milky liquid, but the bristles distinguish it from other plants.
