Field theory - bun'yasetsu (English spelling) fēn yě shuō

Japanese: 分野説 - ぶんやせつ（英語表記）fēn yě shuō

The basic theory of ancient astrology that divides the whole of China into twelve zones or twenty-eight mansions, and tries to predict the fortunes of each country according to the positions of the assigned stars. The twelve zones are the division of the sky into twelve equal parts from west to east, and the twenty-eight mansions are the divisions (which are unequal) from west to east with the main stars of the sky as targets. The ancient history book "Guoyu" states that when King Wu of Zhou invaded the Yin Dynasty, the annual star (Jupiter) was located in Quail Fire (South), so Quail Fire was designated as the territory of Zhou. There is also an example of fortune telling according to the position of the annual star in "Zuo's Zhuan" (Spring and Autumn Annals).

中国全土を天の十二次，あるいは二十八宿に配当し，配当された星の位置によってそれぞれの国の吉凶を占おうとする古代占星術の基礎理論。十二次は天を西から東へ12等分したもの，二十八宿は天のおもな星を目標にして，西から東へ分割(これは不等分)したものをいう。古代の歴史書である《国語》に，周の武王が殷を伐（う）ったとき，歳星(木星)が鶉火（じゆんか）(南)に位置していたことから，鶉火を周の分野としたとある。また，《春秋左氏伝》にも歳星の位置によって吉凶を占った例がみえる。
