Price theory

Japanese: 価格理論 - かかくりろん（英語表記）price theory

A branch of economics that seeks to clarify the principles of behavior or motivation of individual economic agents under market mechanisms, the mechanism by which prices of various goods and services are formed in various markets, and the principles and mechanisms of resource allocation and income distribution. It is the basic theory of economics as a whole, and is also called microeconomics (→Microeconomics). It contrasts with income analysis (macroeconomics), which focuses on the aggregate amount of the entire economy (→National Income Theory).
