Yatsushiro [town] - Yatsushiro
A former town in Higashi-Yatsushiro District, central Yamanashi Prefecture. It occupies the southeastern part of the Kofu Basin and the northern slope of the Misaka Mountains, and is famous for cultivating grapes, peaches, eggplants, and chrysanthemums. In ancient times, it was called Yatsushiro-go and Nagae-go. In October 2004, it merged with Kasugai-cho in Higashi-Yamanashi District, and Isawa-cho, Misaka-cho, Ichinomiya-cho, and Sakaigawa-mura in Higashi-Yatsushiro District to become a city, Fuefuki City. 25.63 km2 . 8,708 people (2003).
