An electrical comparator that converts the mechanical displacement of the measuring element into an electrical quantity and indicates it as a deflection of the pointer. There are inductive, resistive, and capacitive types depending on the conversion method. They have features such as the ability to separate the measurement location from the indication location and a high magnification, but fluctuations in the power supply affect their accuracy. Traditionally, most were analog types, but recently digital types that use an AD converter have become popular.
