An American comic strip. Blondie is the name of the main character, a housewife. Created by Chick Young (1901-1973), it began as a newspaper serial in September 1930 and became a regular in the top five most popular comic strips in the United States. It was also made into a film. The main character, Dagwood's wife, is the mother of two children, Alexander and Cookie. She also keeps a female dog named Dizzy and her five puppies. After the author's death, his protégé Jim Raymond and his son Dean Young took over the business.
