A national park in the Black Hills mountain range in southwestern South Dakota, USA. Established in 1903. Area 110 km2. At its centre is a limestone cave called Wind Cave, where wind flows in and out, accompanied by sound, due to differences in air pressure. Discovered by cowboys in 1881, about 17 km has been explored to date. It is particularly famous for its rare calcite crystals.
