A resin made by condensing aniline C6H5NH2 and formaldehyde HCHO in the presence of hydrochloric acid. As this reaction continues, a three-dimensional network structure forms and hardens, becoming a thermosetting resin. It has excellent electrical properties and was once used as an electrical insulator, but today it has been replaced by epoxy resins and phenolic resins. Recently, low molecular weight resins have been made and are only used as epoxy resin hardeners and phenolic resin modifiers.
