・Strategic Business Unit
- Strategic business unit - A system that GE introduced company-wide to eliminate the drawbacks of the divisional system.
- In the 1960s, GE adopted a diversification strategy, which led to the creation of hundreds of business divisions and a decline in profitability. As a result, in addition to the existing business division system, the company established SBUs, and created a system that allowed cross-divisional initiatives to be carried out through strategic business plans by SBU heads, who were positioned directly under the general managers of the business divisions.

・GEは1960年代に多角化戦略を標榜し、数百の事業部が乱立し、収益性の低下を招いたため、従来の事業部制に加えSBUを設置し、事業本部長の直下に位置づけられたSBU長の戦略的事業計画によって事業部横断的な取り組みも可能な仕組みとした。
