A powerful official of the Wa kingship who is thought to have existed around the end of the 4th century. He is said to be the son of the legendary Takeuchi no Sukune, and the father of Emperor Nintoku's Empress Iwanohime, Tamada no Sukune, and Ashida no Sukune. The name Sachihihi, which appears in the Baekje Record, quoted in the Nihon Shoki in the entry for the 62nd year of the regency of Empress Jingu, is said to be a corrupted pronunciation of Osutsuhiko, and is attracting attention as an indication of his existence. In the 5th year of the regency of Jingu, he was sent as an emissary when Shimizu Mischi Heo Chi Beolhan (Mischih) of Silla returned to Japan under false pretenses, and when he found out he had been deceived, he killed the Silla emissary and took the prisoners back with him. 4世紀末前後に実在したと考えられる倭王権の権臣。伝説上の武内宿禰の子と伝えられ,仁徳天皇の皇后の磐之媛や玉田宿禰,葦田宿禰の父。『日本書紀』神功皇后摂政62年条に引用される『百済記』にみえる沙至比跪は襲津彦の訛音とされ,その実在を示すものとして注目されている。神功摂政5年新羅の質微叱許智伐旱(未斯欣)が偽って帰国したとき送使となり,だまされたことを知って新羅使を殺し,捕虜を連れ帰った。同62年には新羅を討伐しようとしたが,美女ふたりを送られて,かえって加羅国を攻めたため,天皇の怒りを買い,石穴に入って死んだとある。<参考文献>井上光貞「帝紀からみた葛城氏」(『井上光貞著作集』1巻)
