Japanese: 電産型賃金体系 - でんさんがたちんぎんたいけい

This is the wage system that Densankyo, the predecessor of Densan, won in the October industrial struggle in 1946, and it was widely used as the most representative wage system in Japan for about 10 years afterwards. It has historical significance as the only wage system created by a labor union in the history of Japanese capitalism. Its characteristics are: (1) it based wage determination on objective indicators such as years of service and number of family members, and eliminated the intervention of management's appraisal power (seniority-based egalitarianism), (2) it was structured so that about 80% of the total wage was allocated to "living wage guarantee," guaranteeing a minimum standard of living that was not affected by the productivity of the company (living wage idea), and (3) it aimed to guarantee the living standards of workers in the same industry beyond the boundaries of companies (cross-industry wage theory).
