The Buddenbrooks - The Buddenbrooks
A full-length novel by T. Mann. Published in 1901. This was his breakthrough work. It depicts the history of the Buddenbrooks, a family of grain merchants in Lübeck, from the first to the fourth generation, and vividly depicts the decline of the family, from the first generation's strong will to the third generation, Thomas, who gave way to an interest in the mind and arts, right up to the death of the young Hannö, who was only interested in music.
