A ferocious dog in Greek mythology. One of the fearsome monsters said to have been born from the union of Typhon and Echidna. It is said that Typhon and Echidna had sex and gave birth to the Sphinx and the Nemean Lion. It became the pet dog of the three-headed giant Geryon, who guarded his herd of cattle on the island of Erytheia at the western end of the world, but was defeated by Hercules, who came to steal the herd of cattle at the command of Eurystheus.

ギリシア神話の猛犬。テュフォンとエキドナの交わりから生れたとされる恐ろしい怪物たちの一つ。エキドナと母子姦して，スフィンクスとネメアのライオンとを誕生させたという。3頭の巨人ゲリュオンの飼い犬となり，世界の西のはてのエリュテイア島でその牛の群れの番をしていたが，エウリュステウスの命令でこの牛の群れを奪いに来たヘラクレスによって退治されたという。
