The training of mountain ascetics in the mountains is called "minechushugyo" (mountain asceticism), or "minechu" or "nyupping" for short, and records or explanations of the training content, rites, and order are called "minechuki" or "minechutebun." In Shugendo, training is carried out four times a year, called "four seasons of mountain asceticism," with different durations, rites, and training content, and so "minechuki" (mountain asceticism records) such as "Seiho Himoroku," "Natsuho Nikki," "Akiho Tebun," and "Fuyho Gyojiki" were created, and training is based on these. Of course, there are slight differences in content depending on the year they were compiled and the master who wrote them, so by examining these differences, we can learn about the training content, the nationality of the ascetic who entered the mountains, the cost of the training, the weather during the training, and how to deal with unexpected incidents.
