Whiskey Revolt - Whiskey Revolt

Also known as the Whiskey Rebellion, this was an armed uprising in 1794 in western Pennsylvania, USA, by farmers who made their living from whiskey production, in opposition to the liquor tax that was one of the financial policies of Secretary of the Treasury Hamilton. Hamilton mobilized a large military force to demonstrate the authority of the new government, and personally led the suppression of the riots.
