Katsue Kitazono

Japanese: 北園克衛 - きたそのかつえ

1902-1978 A poet from the Showa period.
Born October 29, 1902. Younger brother of sculptor Hashimoto Heihachi. He started the Surrealist movement with Nishiwaki Junzaburo and Takiguchi Shuzo, and in 1935 founded the poetry magazine "VOU." He continued to be active as a modernist poet even after the war. He passed away June 6, 1978. He was 75 years old. He was from Mie Prefecture and graduated from Chuo University. His real name was Hashimoto Kenkichi. His poetry collections include "White Album," "Fire Violets," and "Midday Lemons."

明治35年10月29日生まれ。彫刻家橋本平八の弟。西脇順三郎,滝口修造らとシュールレアリスム運動をおこし,昭和10年詩誌「VOU(バウ)」を創刊。戦後も一貫してモダニズムの詩人として活躍した。昭和53年6月6日死去。75歳。三重県出身。中央大卒。本名は橋本健吉。詩集に「白のアルバム」「火の菫(すみれ)」「真昼のレモン」など。
