A politician in the mid-Heian period. Junior First Rank, Kanpaku. Appointed as Daijo Daijin and given the posthumous name of Tadayoshiko. His father was Udaijin Morosuke and his mother was Fujiwara no Moriko. He was promoted later than his younger brother Kaneie, but due to the early death of his elder brother, Sessho Koretada, he was promoted from Gon Chunagon to Naidaijin and made Kanpaku (972). He later became Daijo Daijin and was awarded the Junior First Rank. Soon after becoming Kanpaku, he placed his daughter Koshi (947-979) in the harem of Emperor Enyu and made her empress. He had a terrible relationship with his younger brother Kaneie and subjected him to various forms of pressure. He was called Horikawadono because he had a mansion in Nijo Horikawa, and his child was called Horikawa Chugu. Kanemichi was a poet commissioned by the emperor, but his love affair with the poet Honin-shiju is well known. He passed away on November 8, 2nd year of the Teigen era. 平安中期の政治家。従(じゅ)一位、関白。太政(だいじょう)大臣に任じられ、忠義公と諡(おくりな)された。父は右大臣師輔(もろすけ)、母は藤原盛子(もりこ)。昇進は実弟兼家より遅れていたが、長兄の摂政(せっしょう)伊尹の早世によって権中納言(ごんのちゅうなごん)より一挙に内大臣に任じ、関白とされた(972)。のち太政大臣に進み、従一位に叙された。関白になるとすぐに女(むすめ)の子(こうし)(947―979)を円融(えんゆう)天皇の後宮に入れ、皇后とした。実弟の兼家とはひどく仲が悪く、種々圧迫を加えた。二条堀河に邸宅があったため堀川殿とよばれ、子は堀川中宮といわれた。兼通は勅撰(ちょくせん)歌人であったが、閨秀(けいしゅう)歌人本院侍従との恋愛は著名。貞元(じょうげん)2年11月8日に薨去(こうきょ)。 [角田文衛] 出典 小学館 日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)について 情報 | 凡例 |
