Neoscona nautica (English name)

Japanese: イエオニグモ（英語表記）Neoscona nautica

Order Arachnida, Family Orbweedida. Body length is 1cm for females and 0.6-0.7cm for males. Color varies greatly from gray to black. They spin circular webs under the eaves of houses or between nearby trees, destroying the old one when spinning a new one. They are often seen around fluorescent lights in train stations and near the lights of vending machines. They are widely distributed in temperate regions around the world. (→Arachnida)

クモ綱クモ目コガネグモ科。体長は雌 1cm，雄 0.6～0.7cm。個体により色彩変異が著しく，灰色から黒色のものまである。人家の軒下や付近の樹間などに円網を張るが，新しい網を張るときは古い網を壊す。駅構内のケイ光灯のまわりや，自動販売機のあかりの近くでしばしばみられる。世界の温帯地方に広く分布する。 (→クモ類 )
