Means "soul" in Greek. She is the protagonist of Cupid and Psyche, an episode in Apuleius's The Golden Ass. The beautiful Psyche marries Cupid (Eros, Amor), the god of love, who hides his true identity. Desperate to find out his true identity, despite it being forbidden, she turns on a lamp one night and sees that her husband is a beautiful young man. He runs away, and after many trials the two are happily united. This became a favorite subject for paintings in later generations. As a common noun, psyche originally meant "breath" and later became associated with the concept of the soul. The English word "psychology" originates from this. E. Rode's research (1890) in which psyche was placed in the history of Greek religion is famous. → Related article Eros (mythology) Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
英語psychology(心理学)などはこれに由来する。プシュケーをギリシア宗教史に位置づけたE.ローデの研究(1890年)は有名。 →関連項目エロス(神話) 出典 株式会社平凡社百科事典マイペディアについて 情報 |
