[1] [noun] A unique ethics that developed among the Japanese warrior class from the Middle Ages onwards. It was supported by Zen Buddhism and Confucianism and reached its peak during the Edo period. It can be divided into two types: the way of serving one's lord at the risk of death, regardless of right or wrong, as in "Hagakure," and the way of behaving as a lord and retainer based on Confucian ethics, as in Yamaga Soko. In the narrow sense, it can refer to the former. It values loyalty, filial piety, martial spirit, honesty, integrity, honor, and courtesy. *Kōyō Gunkan (early 17th century), item 29, "I am not familiar with Bushido from the book" [2] (Original title: Bushido, The Soul of Japan) A philosophy theory. Written by Nitobe Inazo . Published in 1899 ( Meiji 32 ). Published in English during his stay in the United States. A book that explains and introduces the Bushido spirit as the background of the Japanese moral outlook and spirit.
