A musician in the late 16th century in northern India during the reign of Emperor Akbar of the Mughal Empire. Dates of birth and death unknown. Given the Muslim honorific "Meyan," he was called Meyan Than Sen, and was counted among the "Nine Treasures," which meant Emperor Akbar's favorites, and was active as a court musician. His teacher was Swami Haridās, a musician revered as a Hindu saint, and there are many legendary anecdotes about both his teacher and student. The ragas composed by Than Sen were honorifically called "Meyanki Malhar," and he was also famous as a singer of Drupad, a well-known vocal form. 16世紀後半の北インド,ムガル帝国アクバル帝時代の音楽家。生没年不詳。イスラム教徒間の尊称である〈ミーヤーン〉の名が与えられて,ミーヤーン・ターン・センと呼ばれ,またアクバル皇帝の寵臣の意味をもつ〈九つの宝〉の一つに数えられて,宮廷音楽家として活躍した。師匠は,ヒンドゥー教の聖者としてあがめられた音楽家スワーミー・ハリダースSwāmī Haridāsであり,師弟ともに伝説的な逸話が多い。ターン・センによって作られたラーガは尊称をもって〈ミーヤーンキ・マルハル〉と呼ばれ,また,代表的な声楽形式の一つであるドルパドの歌い手としても有名であった。
