A former town in Kanra County in the southwest of Gunma Prefecture. It occupies Mt. Myogi and its eastern foothills. Kamitakada, in the center, developed as a temple town for Myogi Shrine, and produces konjac, rice, and shiitake mushrooms. It is home to Myogisan Onsen. 群馬県南西部，甘楽(かんら)郡の旧町。妙義山とその東麓を占める。中心の上高田は妙義神社の門前町として発達，コンニャク，米，シイタケを産する。妙義山温泉がある。2006年３月富岡市へ編入。28.76km2。4978人（2003）。
