Imbe Shrine

Located in Nikenyacho, Tokushima City. It enshrines Amenohiwashi no Mikoto, the ancestor of the Ibe clan of Awa (Tokushima Prefecture). The deity is said to have been a god who, in ancient times, planted the grain cotton, established the paper-making and spinning industries, and demonstrated great achievements. In later generations, he was called Oe no Kami in honour of his divine virtue, and his descendants took the name Ibe and became involved in national rituals. Under the Engi system, he was ranked as a Myojin Taisha, and in 1871 (Meiji 4) became a National Heisei Chusha. He was later transferred to his current location in 1885. The annual festival is held on October 19th.

徳島市二軒屋町に鎮座。阿波(あわ)（徳島県）の忌部氏の遠祖、天日鷲命(あめのひわしのみこと)を祀(まつ)る。祭神は、太古、穀木綿(かじゆう)を植え、製紙、紡績の業を興し、大功を現した神という。後世、その神徳をたたえて麻植神(おえのかみ)と称し、子孫は忌（斎）部を名のって国家の祭祀(さいし)に関与した。延喜(えんぎ)の制で名神(みょうじん)大社に列し、1871年（明治4）国幣中社となった。その後、遷祀され、85年に現社地に移った。例祭は10月19日。
