Fukuno [town] - Fukuno

Japanese: 福野[町] - ふくの

A former town in Higashitonami County in western Toyama Prefecture. Located in the center of the Tonami Plain, it is known as a typical scattered village settlement and is served by the Johana Line and the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. In addition to rice farming, the spinning and weaving industries are thriving. In November 2004, it merged with Johana Town, Taira Village, Kamitaira Village, Toga Village, Inami Town, and Inokuchi Village in Higashitonami County, and Fukumitsu Town in Nishitonami County to become a city, Nanto City. Area: 31.71 ^km2 . Population: 14,784 (2003).
