Freyr

A god in Norse mythology. Originally a member of the Bana, a tribe of fertility gods, Frey joined the Asagami tribe after a war between them and the Asagami, when they exchanged hostages, Frey went to Asgard as a hostage along with his father Njörðr and his sister Freyja, and joined the Asagami tribe. Like his father Njörðr, who is also a fertility god, Frey is the god of good harvests, reproduction, and peace, as well as the god of rain and the sun. He rides a golden boar given to him by the dwarf Brok, galloping across the sky and scattering flowers and fruit on the earth. It is said that he will die fighting Surt at the end of the world.

北欧神話の神。もともとは豊穣神族バナに属するが，バナ神族がアサ神族と戦った末に人質を交換したとき，フレイも父ニヨルズと妹フレイヤとともにアスガルズに人質として行き，アサ神族の仲間入りをした。豊穣神である父ニヨルズと同じく豊作と生殖と平和の神であり，また雨と太陽の神でもある。小人ブロックからもらった金色のいのししに乗って天を駆けめぐりながら，花や果物を地上にまく。世界滅亡のときにはスルトと戦って死ぬとされる。
