Temple worship - Innohairei

Japanese:
Temple worship - Innohairei
An annual Imperial Court event. One of the morning greetings held every year on the first day of the New Year at the Imperial Palace. It refers to the ceremony in which the Emperor visits the Retired Emperor's palace to offer his thanks. Another theory is that it refers to a ceremony in which officials and ministers pay homage to the Retired Emperor. It began on the first day of the New Year in 1073 (Enkyu 5), when Emperor Shirakawa visited the Retired Emperor Gosanjo's palace to offer his thanks. It is clear that it was held from then until the Genroku, Kyoho, and Kan'en eras of the 18th century. [Yamanaka Yutaka]
