1878‐1967 Italian politician. He was a founding member of the Nationalist Association in 1910, and led the nationalist movement around the time of World War I. In 1923, the Nationalist Association and the Fascist Party merged, leading to the transition to Fascism. Under the Fascist government, he served as Minister of Colonies, Minister of the Interior, President of the Senate, and President of the Royal Academy. During his term as Minister of the Interior (1924-26), he worked to strengthen the state apparatus, and together with Minister of Justice Rocco, he played a central role in establishing a Fascist state system.
