Federterra (English spelling)

Federterra (English spelling)
The abbreviation for Federazione nazionale dei lavoratori della terra, the Italian National Federation of Land Workers. Founded in 1901 based on the agricultural workers who lived in the agricultural areas of the Po River basin, the federation had 230,000 members the following year. Because the goal was the socialization of land, it did not receive much support from small and medium-sized farmers who wanted to own land. By 1920, after World War I, the federation had reached 890,000 members and strengthened its fighting power by forcing farmers to accept employment obligations, but much of the organization was destroyed by fascist attacks that began at the end of 1920.
