〘Noun〙① A document reporting rumors from various places. ※Hagakure (around 1716) 4 "During the reign of Lord Katsushige, documents called rumour reports were submitted." ② During the Edo period, reports on overseas information obtained through trade in Nagasaki were submitted to the shogunate. Those from the Dutch trading post chief were called "Dutch rumour reports," and information from Chinese ships was called "Chinese ship rumour reports." ※Essays: Journey to the West (included in the New Japanese Classical Literature Series) (1795) 9 "Tenmei 3, Gui Mao Year Rumor Report"
