Feng Guo-zhang (English: Feng Guo-chang)
Born: 1859
[Died] 1919
Leader of the Zhili faction warlords in the early Republic of China. Also read as "Hyōkokushō". Born in Hejian County, Hebei Province. His courtesy name was Huafu. Graduated from the Military Academy. In the late Qing Dynasty, he served as Vice Minister of the Army and Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Guard. During the Xinhai Revolution, he suppressed the revolutionary forces under Yuan Shikai. During the Second Revolution, he captured Nanjing and established a base for the Zhili faction in central China. After Zhang Xun's Restoration Incident in 1917, he became acting president, and was in conflict with Duan Qirui of the Anhui faction, the Southwest warlords to the south, and the Kuomintang. In 1918, Xu Shichang forced him to retire along with Duan Qirui in order to unify the Beijing government.

中国,民国初期,直隷派軍閥の首領。「ひょうこくしょう」とも読む。河北省河間県の人。字は華甫。武備学堂卒業。清末,陸軍部副大臣兼禁衛軍都督などを歴任。辛亥革命では袁世凱のもとで革命軍を鎮圧。第二革命で南京を攻略し,華中に直隷派の地盤を築いた。 1917年張勲の復辟事件ののち,代行大総統となり,安徽派の段祺瑞,南方の西南軍閥,国民党との間にあって互いに対立した。 18年徐世昌によって北京政府統一のため,段祺瑞とともに引退させられた。
