One of the old ranks of shrines. In ancient times, it was specified in detail in the Engishiki, and it was a shrine that had great miraculous powers for the nation and received offerings of offerings from the Jingikan (official shrines) for the Niiname-sai, Tsukimi-sai, and Niiname-sai festivals. Together with Kokuheisha, it was also called Kansha. Since the Meiji period, it mainly referred to shrines that were revered by the imperial family and received offerings from the Imperial Household Ministry. There were three types of Kansha: Taisha, Chusha, Shosha, and Bekku Kanpeisha, but in 1945 this term was abolished.
