Shigenobu [town] - Shigenobu
An old town in Onsen-gun, central Ehime Prefecture. The Shigenobu River flows west through the center. Rice, wheat, and vegetables are cultivated in the lowlands in the center, and citrus fruits are grown on the slopes. The area around Saraga Mine (1,271m) on the southern edge is a prefectural natural park and a good place for camping. The Iyotetsu Yokogawara Line runs through the town. In September 2004, it merged with Kawauchi-cho, Onsen-gun, to become a city, Toon. Area: 100.59 km2 . Population: 22,770 (2003).

愛媛県中部,温泉郡の旧町。ほぼ中央を重信川が西流する。中部の低地では米,麦,野菜,傾斜地では柑橘(かんきつ)類を栽培。南縁の皿ヶ嶺(1271m)一帯は県立自然公園で,キャンプの適地。伊予鉄道横河原線が通じる。2004年9月温泉郡川内町と合併し市制,東温市となる。100.59km2。2万2770人(2003)。
