A high mountain in the Patagonian Andes, Argentina. Also known as Chaltel. Elevation 3,375m. Latitude 49°16′S, longitude 73°03′W. Located on the border with Chile at the eastern end of the central part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Body, it stands tall surrounded by glaciers. There is a lot of snow due to the moist southwesterly winds blowing in from the Pacific Ocean. However, the side of Lake Viedma on the southeastern foot is dry due to the rain shadow effect. It was first reached by the French team led by G. Magnone in 1952. [Nogami Michio]

アルゼンチン，パタゴニア･アンデス山系中の高山。別名チャルテルChaltel。標高3375m。南緯49゜16′，西経73゜03′。パタゴニア南氷体の中央部東端のチリとの国境に位置し，氷河に囲まれてそびえ立っている。太平洋から吹く湿った南西風のため，積雪が多い。しかし南東麓にあるビエドマViedma湖側は雨陰効果のため乾燥している。1952年，フランスのG.マニョーヌ隊が初登頂した。【野上道男】
