Born: December 5, 1470 in Eichstätt Died December 12, 1530. Nuremberg German humanist. He studied in Padua and Pavia in Italy, and lived in his ancestral city of Nuremberg from 1496, where he served as a city official and was active as a diplomatic envoy. During the Swiss War (1499) of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, he led the army to help the emperor, and later wrote a book called Schweizerkrieg (Switzerland War). He also published and translated other classics. He was anti-church, and initially supported the Reformation, arguing with J. Eck, but from 1526 he also turned his back on it.
