School phobia - gakkou kyoufushou

...A child refuses to go to school due to anxiety or tension caused by some psychological reason, not illness or economic reasons. In the United States, the first research report was published under the name "school phobia" in 1941, but in Japan, the problem began to surface around 1960 and has been rapidly increasing since then. Initially, as the name "school phobia" suggests, it was considered a type of neurosis, but today there are many cases that cannot necessarily be considered neurosis.
