Bude - Guillaume Budé

French humanist. Born in Paris. He studied law and Greek, and his scholarship is said to be on a par with that of Erasmus. His major works include Annotationes in Pandectas (2 volumes, 1508-1526), ​​which was the first to apply historical and linguistic methods and revolutionized the study of Roman law, De Asse (1515), and Commentarii linguae graecae (Latin) (1529). As a close aide to King Francis I, he established the Royal College of Professors (1529), the predecessor of the Collège de France, and is revered as the father of French humanism.

フランスの人文学者（ユマニスト）。パリに生まれる。法律とギリシア語を研究し、その学識はエラスムスと並び称される。初めて歴史的・言語学的方法を適用してローマ法研究を一新した『ユスティニアヌス法令集注解』Annotationes in Pandectas2巻（1508～1526）、『古代貨幣考』De Asse（1515）、『ギリシア語考』Commentarii linguae graecae（ラテン語）（1529）の大著がある。またフランソア1世の側近として、コレージュ・ド・フランスCollège de Franceの前身である王立教授団を実現（1529）させ、フランス・ユマニストの父と仰がれる。
