The most famous Persian miniature painter and portraitist in the history of Islamic painting. He first worked in Herat under Sultan Husayn (1473-1506), and later worked in Tabriz under Shah Ismail (1502-1524). He introduced realism to his work while building on the traditions of Persian painting.
