One jellyfish - One jellyfish

This jellyfish belongs to the phylum Coelenterata, class Hydrozoa, order Tubulejana, family Homonidae. Most of the body is a long, pentagonal pyramidal swimming bell, from whose base hangs a long, slender trunk. The swimming bell is about 4 millimeters long, and inside there is a wide cavity called the swimming bladder. On one side of the swimming bell there is a long, slender, cylindrical vertical body pouch, the lower end of which leads to the trunk chamber from which the trunk arises. On top of the trunk there are a series of trunks made up of protective leaves, vegetative bodies, tentacles, reproductive bodies, etc. The trunk and trunks are pale yellowish brown in color. It is widely distributed in temperate to subtropical seas around the world, and is common along the coasts of Japan, especially in winter.

腔腸(こうちょう)動物門ヒドロ虫綱管(くだ)クラゲ目ヒトツクラゲ科に属するクラゲ。体の大部分は細長い五角錐(すい)形の泳鐘で、その基部から細長い幹が垂れ下がっている。泳鐘は長さ約4ミリメートル、内部に泳嚢(えいのう)とよばれる広い腔所がある。泳鐘の一側に細長い円筒形の縦の体嚢があり、その下端は幹室に続き、そこから幹が生じている。幹の上には保護葉、栄養体、触手、生殖体などよりなる幹群が連なる。幹および幹群は淡黄褐色である。世界の温帯から亜熱帯の海に広く分布しており、日本の沿岸でも普通で、とくに冬に多い。
